Now that we’ve officially entered the yuletide season, The Fort Garry is excited to announce “All That Glows: Then & Now” is once again open for visitors at the Manitoba Electrical Museum & Education Centre, just ten minutes from our hotel. “All That Glows” in an annual display of holiday lights, designed not only to delight spectators with its dazzling design, but to teach folks the history of such decorations, from the first Christmas lighting in the late nineteenth century up to today. The exhibit, which focuses especially on the province of Manitoba, has a distinct local flavor that will interest both lifelong Manitobans and international travelers curious to discover the customs of Christmases past. From now to December 30, stop by every Monday through Thursday from 1 to 4pm. or on the following days during special extended hours: Wednesdays, December 6, 13, and 20, from 1 to 8pm.; Friday, December 29, from 1 to 4pm; and Saturdays, December 2, 9, 16, and 30, from 1 to 4pm. The exhibit is closed December 22, 25, and 26. Admission is always free.
