Festival du Voyageur: Western Canada’s Premier Winter Festival

Reservations

Every year since 1970, the Festival du Voyageur has been held in Winnipeg’s French Quarter as a tribute both to Canada’s long tradition of fur-trading (the word voyageur refers to the canoe-cruising fur traders who once crowded the country from coast to coast) and to the vibrant French heritage that helps make Canada the unique blend of cultures it is today. At this ten-day festival for all ages, you’ll witness culturally-authentic performances by First Nations peoples, dance to the music that entertained trappers centuries ago, savor traditional French-Canadian cuisines, and marvel at the massive ice sculptures ornamenting Voyageur Park for this annual extravaganza. If you’ll be staying with us between February 16 and February 25, be sure to set aside at least a day or two to revel in Western Canada’s biggest winter festival, where the past comes alive and folks from across the nation come together for food, fellowship, and fun.
