Kings Park: Winnipeg’s Natural Oasis

From the annual jazz festival, to the art and natural history museums, to the shopping and entertainment complex of the Forks, to the bustling city center of downtown Winnipeg, there’s always something exciting to do in our fair city. Sometimes, though, you really do want to get away from it all, and here at the Fort Garry, we know just the spot. Located on the south side of the city, just a short twenty-minute drive from our hotel, Kings Park offers everything a nature lover could ask for: sprawling trails, a serene rock garden, a labyrinth, a lake, and even (you’d never have guessed this one) a Chinese pagoda. Athletically-inclined guests can take advantage of the football and soccer field, as well as the two baseball diamonds, and your canine companions will love the dedicated dog park. It’s true, Manitoba isn’t the warmest place in winter, but some of our favorite memories from Kings Park are of placid morning walks as the sun glistens across the white and wondrous expanse of snow.
