Bavaria Meets Manitoba at the Annual Oktoberfest Celebration
Since 1810, Bavarian men and women have donned their finest Lederhosen and Dirndls to indulge in a weeks’ long festival of traditional German beer and cuisine. Today, Oktoberfest is the single most widely celebrated cultural festival across the world, with special events in cities from Munich to Melbourne, from Berlin to Buenos Aires. On Saturday, October 14, guests of the Fort Garry can join in the fun of this unique German festival as the German Society of Winnipeg, located at 121 Charles Street, celebrates its own special version of the Alpine extravaganza. Can’t make it on the 14th? Fret not, Schnitzelhaus Winnipeg serves up authentic German cuisine at great prices every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We especially recommend the Saturday morning breakfast buffet. It is, as they say in Deutschland, sehr köstlich!
