Oktoberfest in Winnipeg

Despite its name, Oktoberfest is traditionally celebrated over the last three weeks of September. It gets its name from the fact that it culminates in the first weekend of October. As this traditional German folk festival has expanded all over the world over the last two hundred years, Americans and Canadians continue to celebrate Oktoberfest until Halloween. On October 15, the German Society of Winnipeg, located at 121 Charles Street, less than ten minutes from the Fort Gary, will host its annual version of Oktoberfest. If the 15th doesn't match your travel plans then consider heading to the newly opened Schnitzelhaus, famous for its Saturday morning breakfast smorg. You don't have to be a beer drinker to celebrate Oktoberfest - there's plenty of live music, dancing, and food for everyone!
